Photography
Joel Sames is an independent photographer who realizes both personal and commissioned projects. His photographic practice operates at the intersection of documentary narrative and artistic reflection. His work has been published in newspapers, magazines, photo calendars, and books, and has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions.

Film
Joel produces short films with a focus on culture, education, and sports. At the heart of his work lies an engagement with the voices and perspectives of his protagonists – a careful listening that he translates into a visual language. Navigating between documentary intention and commissioned visual work, Joel Sames has developed a distinctive visual signature that makes everyday realities visible.

Projects
Joel designs and facilitates projects in the context of intercultural exchange, humanitarian aid, and peacebuilding. He supports NGOs and civil society organizations with his design experience, his professional expertise, and by activating collaborative networks. His work aims to foster solidarity, intercultural dialogue, and mutual understanding through visual and sociocultural processes.

Education
In 2011, Joel completed his diploma in Postindustrial Design / Interaction Management at the HyperWerk Institute of the Academy of Art and Design in Basel – a transdisciplinary environment that engages creatively with social transformation processes.
